There is an excellent card at The Curragh on Sunday and I have three selections from there plus one from Stratford. Enjoy all of the action live on Racing TV.
1.30 Stratford: Mick Pastor
It is fair to say that this horse has been disappointing on his past three starts, particularly last time at Chepstow in a Class Two Handicap.
However, his previous two runs were in a Grade Two at Cheltenham and a Grade One at Aintree. He has now had three months off and the break might well revive him.
He won twice last summer in June and trainer Paul Nichols has a 32% strike rate with horses he runs in the summer. The race looks completely devoid of early pace and as he has made the running in the past. That looks to be the way to go here at this sharp track.
2.10 Curragh: Order Of Australia
Order Of Australia wins the Romanised Minstrel Stakeslast year (focusonracing.com)
Order Of Australia won this race last year and I see no reason why he cannot go in again.
He finished a very creditable third to Baaeed in the Queen Anne Stakes last time out, posting a triple-digit speed figure and a repeat of that effort should be good enough here.
He was a consistent performer in decent races last year, being placed in Jacques Le Maori’s and the Prix Du Moulin. This drop in grade can see him return to the winner’s enclosure.
2.45 Curragh: Supagirl
Jessica Harrington has her team in fine form and this filly can back up her impressive Navan success last time out.
She stormed clear to win by a wide margin at Navan and the handicapper reacted by raising her 14lb. That is offset by a 10lb claimer taking over and still looks poised to run a big race.
This track usually favours horses who are ridden prominently and that is her run style. Harrington won this prize last year with Hell Bent.
4.30 Curragh: Over The Rainbow
Aidan O Brien does not train many horses by Dubawi. This filly is an exception and makes lots of appeal in this maiden contest.
She made a promising debut here at The Curragh when, despite being green, she finished second of fourteen. She only really got the hang of things late in the race.
This does not look to be a a strong contest and she can go one better. There does not look to be much pace signed on, so I would not be surprised if Ryan Moore decided to dictate matters. Whatever the tactics she should be a lot more clued up and sharper this time.
