“She looks a freak!" - Sun Goddess runs away with Moyglare

Sun Goddess further enhanced her huge reputation with a runaway victory in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.
Aidan O’Brien’s filly had won four of her six previous starts, a record which includes a Group One victory against the boys in last month’s Phoenix Stakes and a demolition job in a valuable sales race at York on her latest outing.
Despite some concerns about the overall form of the Ballydoyle team, the daughter of Sioux Nation was the 4-7 favourite to notch a second top-level success on her first attempt at seven furlongs.
And after travelling strongly into contention in the hands of Ryan Moore, she rocketed six and a half lengths clear of the runner-up Green Empress, prompting Paddy Power slash her odds to 3-1 favourite from 7-1 for next year’s 1000 Guineas.
“She looks a freak,” said O’Brien. “Everything she’s done has been freakish.
“She went up to seven furlongs today in soft ground. Our other filly (Alpha, finished fifth), we felt, wanted a mile. This filly we weren’t even sure would stay, but there was only one place we were going to find out.
“It’s a seriously important race. Ryan was very patient on her. She’s a big powerful, strong, filly by Sioux Nation and it looks like Sioux Nations are really taking off. He was a sprinter himself but it looks like they are going to stay as well, which is very unusual.”
On future targets, the trainer added: “Obviously the Cheveley Park is there in two weeks’ time. She’s coming out of her races like she’s not having races. She has an awful lot of natural class.
“She’s a very big filly and you’d imagine looking at her she should be a way better filly next year. She’s just natural really, very unusual.
“We didn’t really know what was going to happen, incredible really.”
