Alpine
Star has suffered a setback which has prematurely ended her juvenile season.
One of several potentially top-class fillies trained by Jessica Harrington, the Debutante Stakes winner had been due to head across the Channel for this weekend’s Prix Marcel Boussac at ParisLongchamp.
However, Harrington instead sends Albigna for that Group One contest, with a minor issue ruling Alpine
Star out of a trip to France as well as next Friday’s Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.
“Unfortunately she pulled a muscle on Monday, in her quarters, and will be put away for the winter,” said Alan Cooper, racing manager to her owners, the Niarchos Family.
“I suppose, if it’s a saving grace, she did it at home and not in a race when the damage could have been much worse.
“She won’t be going for the Fillies’ Mile.”
