Sacred Life impresses at Saint-Cloud as British raiders fall short

Wed 4 Oct 2017

Sacred Life kept his unbeaten record intact with an impressive display in the Prix Thomas Bryon as the British challengers had to settle for minor honours at Saint-Cloud.

Two juveniles made the journey across the Channel, with Hugo Palmer's Alba Power joined by the Charlie Appleby-trained Aqabah.

Alba Power was last seen finishing third in a valuable sales race at Doncaster, while Aqabah occupied the same position in the Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes on Town Moor the previous day.

Josephine Gordon sent Alba Power straight to the lead from the off in this seven-furlong Group Three, with Aqabah on his tail under James Doyle.

However, neither had any answer when Stephane Wattel's hat-trick seeker Sacred Life quickened by in the hands of Theo Bachelot to seal a decisive victory.

Alba Power boxed on well to fill the runner-up spot, with Aqabah fading into fourth place.
