Ryan Moore: the inside track on my Sunday Curragh rides

World Pool ambassador and top jockey Ryan Moore shares the lowdown on another strong book of rides on day two of the Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh.
Race 3: G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes
I’m on SUN GODDESS in the Moyglare.
She’s been in great form this year, bar getting beaten at Royal Ascot by a good filly in Libertango. She’s won a Group 2 and the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at the track before going on to win the sales race at York.
Seven furlongs should be fine for her and she’s probably going to be a short-priced favourite. I’m looking forward to riding her.
Alpha also runs for Aidan.
She’s a good filly and I don’t think we’ve seen the best of her the last couple of times. It would be no surprise to see her come good again.
Green Empress runs for Joseph and she won the trial, so you have to respect her as well.
Race 4: G1 Flying Five Stakes
MISSION CENTRAL is my ride in the Flying Five.
He won the King Charles III Sprint at Royal Ascot, although it hasn’t quite worked out for him since in the July Cup and the Nunthorpe.
He does have excuses for both runs. The trip didn’t suit him at Newmarket, while the ground wouldn’t have been to his liking at York.
He’s won at the Curragh before, so hopefully the track will suit him and he can get back to winning ways.
Race 5: G1 Vincent O'Brien National Stakes
I’m riding GIANT SEQUOIA here.
He’s a Frankel colt who won the trial for this after winning his maiden impressively.
He’s a progressive horse and one that I think will make into a proper three-year-old.
I’m looking forward to seeing how he gets on.
We also have Haffner in there, the Acomb winner.
He’s a very likeable horse and the Curragh should suit him well, so hopefully he can run well.
Florida Bay also comes here after running well to finish second in the trial.
Monogram is obviously held in high regard. He won on debut and now takes the step up to Group One level, so he’ll have to improve again. The horse that sets the form standard is Dr Rascal, who won the Vintage Stakes and remains unbeaten.
Race 6: G1 Irish St Leger
SCANDINAVIA has been on a great run and hopefully that can continue.
This looks a great opportunity for him. He has progressed with every run this year and we’re hopeful of another big effort.
He was very good at Goodwood and Ascot before that. He drops back in distance from those races, but that isn’t a concern. He won the St Leger last year over this trip, as well as the Bahrain Trophy over a mile and five furlongs.
There are very few negatives about his chance and hopefully he can put in another big performance.
