How's the Going?

As is always the case at Kempton these days, the all-weather track surface is described as Standard to Slow. The stalls will be on the inside for all races.

The Big Trend:

TOM MARQUAND is a maestro around Kempton and has ridden 12 winners from 69 rides there this year, recording a healthy profit to level stakes for those following blind. He has three rides within the Placepot pool and they’re all worthy of attention:

1:45 - Ilhabela Fact

2:45 - Lanika

3:15 - Qaseeda

Placepot Banker:

ZION STAR (Leg 3, 2:15pm) races for Richard Hannon and typical of many juveniles from the powerful yard, you’d expect this colt to improve significantly from his 4th here on debut. The step up to a mile looks within his compass and with a clear run, the son of Estidhkaar should have no trouble securing a place at the very least.

Outsider to Consider:

Crimson King (Leg 2, 1:45) has been beaten out of sight in three runs over hurdles this summer and perhaps it is time to revert to the level. Michael Easterby’s 66-rated runner does have some questions to answer in terms of well-being just now, but the horse does have some useful all-weather form to his name at this grade. He’s only 3lb higher than when he won here over 1m4f back in March and a repeat of that run today would see him go well. Oisin Murphy is booked, which obviously adds to his intrigue for this class five event.

Torpedo Leg:

With 13 unexposed juveniles heading to post for Leg 4 - a tough 7f nursery handicap - it is a real puzzle for Placepot players with any numbers of horses fitting the bill as solid each-way hopes. It could pay to have two or even three horses on side in this one, so here’s our shortlist:

Imperial Fora

Golden Claim

Twentysharesofgrey

Our Placepot Perm:

Leg 1: 5,6,10 Leg 2: 5,6 Leg 3: 10 Leg 4: 3,7,11 Leg 5: 1,8 Leg 6: 1

3 x 2 x 1 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 36 lines
