We turn our attention to Salisbury today where there is a nine-race card, and a Tote Placepot will be available on the first six races of the card.
A host of the placepot pointers have paid some very valuable dividends recently. In the past eight days, the average dividend is over £600.
How's the Going?
With no rain and blue skies all over the country, it is no surprise that the current going at Salisbury is good to firm. There will be some watering, but this will suit the front runners and make it very difficult for others to come from behind.
The Big Trend:
JACK MITCHELL is not a name that gets thrown around an awful lot but he has started this season at Salisbury very well. He has four winners from his eight rides and has another two here today. SALAYEL (2:50pm) and HIBERNIAN WARRIOR (4:00pm).
The card is full of obstacles to overcome and there wouldn’t be many bankers on the day but WELL DONE FOX looks to be a selection that should finish in the top two of the 2:15pm. He has won over course and distance and a drop of 11lb since this time last year puts him at a huge advantage. He has always been one that could have done so much more but this is the sort of race he should clean up.
Outsider to Consider:
Not only are there two races with only four horses involved but there is also a 14-runner handicap that is going to catch out a lot of placepot punters. Rod Millman’s BIOTIC looks to be an attractive sort that is reasonably consistent and with Oliver Searle taking seven pounds off his back for an apprentice allowance, could surprise. He is now off his last minning mark.
Cieren Fallon is bang in form and he rides BONUS for Jim Boyle. Off a mark of only 65, he could cause some damage here with a step up to seven furlongs which he will need every inch of.
Any sort of surprise in the 1:40 and 2:50 will spark a torpedo leg and that is more likely to happen in the prior. ANNA NERIUM is likely to go off the outsider of the four and after her very encouraging fifth at Goodwood last time out she could sweep the prizes. She gets a five pound weight allowance which will come in very handy in the closing stages when she needs to find a little more.
