How's the Going?

The going is drying and has been confirmed as good.

The Big Trend

With 85 winners already this year, Tom Marquand is in great form and will be looking to beat his record of 136 winners in a year despite over nine weeks without any racing on.

He has had seven winners already this year at Goodwood and with a further five rides booked at Goodwood, will be looking to add to his tally. Four of his rides fall in Placepot races, and they are: Tick Toch (3:00pm, Leg 2), Dhushan (3:35pm, Leg 3), Royal Address (4:05pm, Leg 4), Just Hubert (4:40pm, Leg 5).

Leg three of the Tote Placepot pits DHUSHAN (3:35pm) against Greystroke. The latter of the two has had some racecourse experience and shown some quality in his two outings at Sandown and Lingfield. However we are siding with newcomer Dhushan. He is a son of Sea The Stars and the noise in the background is that he has a lot to offer Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum.

Outsiders to Consider

In the fifth leg of the Placepot, Platitude(4:40pm) looks to be an outsider that can cause a surprise. He has dropped 8lb since the start of the season without showing a single bad performance.

Last time out he finished sixth and has dropped 2lb from it. That could be enough to run a big race here. At the top of the market is Nuits St Georges and Seinsational, both of whom have earned the right to be there. However with Ray Dawson taking a further 5lb off, he really is the danger horse to be wary of.

Torpedo Leg

The first leg of the Tote Placepot is one that could trip up a lot of units. There are twelve runners and all of them could have their own reasons to be possible winners. Isle Of Wolves is one that can be dangerous off his mark of 72, but without managing to get the win it is likely that this step up in class will be too much. Millions Memories has had a little resurgence of form this season but an 8¼L loss was not very convincing. Songo and Stormingin (2:25pm) are the ones to side with here. Songo has won or placed in all six appearances so far and Stormingin, having dropped 7lb is now off a dangerous mark and one that could surprise all.
