How’s the going?

The ground is currently described as Good but showers are forecast.

The Big Trend

JONJO O’NEILL has a 50% hit rate at Warwick so far this season with 2 wins from 4 runners. In the past fortnight he is operating at a 29% strike rate, so the Jackdaw’s Castle operation is going well.

To boot, JP McManus owned horses at Warwick are 21/74 (28%) at Warwick in the last 5 years, to a +£45.96 profit at level stakes. Jonjo has just the one runner at the track on Thursday, coincidently owned by the great man himself:

Leg 4 - 1:45pm - BHUTAN

Placepot Banker

KAP AUTEUIL (Leg 2, 12:40pm) shaped with a fair degree of promise in a couple of bumpers last season, before making his debut over hurdles at Kempton back in March. It was a pretty hot race and the 5yo was unfancied, but he did run very well and left the impression he’d be a useful hurdler in the fullness of time. He returns in this modest enough novices’ hurdle today and looks to have very bright claims under Tom Cannon.

Outsider to Consider

LYGON ROCK 1:45pm (Leg 4) - Henry Daly’s charge may need the run first time out, but the well-bred gelding stays very well and will handle any easing in the ground.

DE PLOTTING SHED 2:20pm (Leg 5) - Is out of form but wears a first time visor here and his handicap mark is plummeting to a dangerous level. Has the previous class to pop up with a good run if in the mood.

Torpedo Leg

The 1:10pm (Leg 3) is a only a four runner contest, but that means Placepot players must pick the winner in order to proceed through the pool. And this particular four runner race is a tricky one, where all four runners have a good.

Getaway Trump is the class angle, but didn’t look a natural over fences last time. He is still the most likely winner though and should improve on his latest effort. It might just pay to add in Golden Taipan for Fergal O’Brien, who comes out well on speed figures and has had a wind operation.
