Catterick is one of six meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on a busy start to the week.

The North Yorkshire course is always a good test due to the tightness of the track, with its undulations also often causing one or two problems for some runners.

The action begins at 13:08 (Leg 1) with a maiden over 5f. Some familiar names are in the mix over the minimum trip at 13:40 (Leg 2), while there are two divisions of a 1m4f handicap at 14:15 and 14:50.

Showers have been forecast ahead of the Flat meeting. The current going is described as 'Soft' and as ever at Catterick, the stalls are on the inside of the course. You can watch all the action on Racing TV.

The Big Trend

Jason Hart and Kevin Scott top the leading jockeys' charts at Catterick over the last 12 months with seven victories each. Both are in action on this card where they will be hopeful of improving their strike rates.

Hart will saddle Gabriella's Spirit (Leg 1, 13:08), Strict Order (Leg 3, 14:15) and Captain Jameson (Leg 5, 15:35) and is in good form after a couple of big winners last week at Chester.

Scott has just the two rides but both have an excellent chance. He partners Little Earl (Leg 1, 13:08) and Ehrmann (Leg 2, 13:40). It could be a great start to the day for the rider.

Placepot Banker

EHRMANN (13:40, Leg 2) has produced two excellent runs over this 5f trip this season. He broke his maiden at Southwell and was not far behind in his follow up attempt at Wolverhampton. This is his handicap debut and he looks to have been given a lenient mark. It is hard to see him finishing outside the frame based on what he has produced this season. Trainer Amy Murphy has opted to add the tongue-tie on for the first time and that could also improve his chances.

Outsiders to consider

TRINITY STAR (14:15, Leg 3) was once rated as high as 80 so to see him off a mark of 57 says everything you need to know about his form over the last couple of years. This 10-year-old is very capable on his day and he should be fit and ready for this task following his seasonal reappearance at Thirsk. He is worth including to hit the frame in this 1m4f contest.

DIRCHILL (15:25, Leg 5) is a course and distance winner who will appreciate a return to Catterick. He ran well over the winter on the all-weather surface without prevailing but his form suggests he is a much better horse on turf. Off a 2lb lower mark than his last success, he is worth including in your perm.

Torpedo Leg

FLAMMARION (14:50, Leg 4) is still looking for his first win on the Flat. The former bumper winner has had plenty of opportunities to get off the mark but his performances haven't quite lived up to expectations. This is now his third run in handicap company and he may need to be eased further to get his first victory. In what is a competitive second division of this race, there are plenty of options to take him on with, including the consistent Straight Ash and Act Of Magic.
