We’ve seen four-figure Placepot dividends already this week, and as the show rolls on, we’re hoping Haydock is the next place to return a big win.
There’s also the added benefit that Tote’s Placepot Insurance has played this week, with 98% of those playing the Exeter Placepot on Tuesday getting their money back, meaning that if you are eliminated in the first leg, we’ll give you your money back up to £10. T&Cs apply.
Hopefully that won’t be necessary, and you can conquer all six legs, with the help of our Placepot Pointers.
How’s the going?
As with any National Hunt cards that go ahead this week, it’s likely to be hard work for those lining up at Haydock. There is a precautionary inspection at 8am with a chance of freezing temperatures overnight on Friday through to Saturday. The day itself is going to be a little cold and there is also a chance of snow.
The Big Trend
As ever, it is sometimes very difficult to stay away from the top of the pile and one of those is Nicky Henderson. He has a fantastic record at Haydock and will be one to look out for today. In the last five seasons he has saddles 13 winners from 41 runners. Returning a strike rate of 32%. He sends three runners to Haydock today:
12:55 - Allart
2:05 - Hijack
3:15 - Buveur D’Air
Placepot Banker
Taking in mind the ‘Big Trend’, ALLART (Leg 1, 12:55) is certainly one that needs to be considered as the Banker of the day at Haydock in the Placepot. The form from the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle has worked out in emphatic fashion and this seven-year-old finished fifth in that race. First time out over fences he won the Noel Grade 2 at Ascot ahead of Fiddlerontheroof, and this looks to be another winnable affair. His jumping should have come on a lot and he can put down a real marker for the Marsh.
Outsider to Consider
Llandinabo Lad is the obvious selection in the Supreme Trial Rossington Main Novices’ Hurdle, however ANYTHINGFORLOVE (Leg 2, 13:30) is certainly one that should not be ruled out. She would have won first time out for Jamie Snowden this season had Gavin Sheehan’s left stirrup not come undone. However, she made amends for that by winning two on the bounce at Lingfield and Catterick. Both of those efforts were significant victories and gaining the 7lb sex allowance here, she has a huge chance of winning Jamie Snowden his second Grade 2 of the season.
Torpedo Leg
The closing leg of the Tote Placepot looks to be the leg where a torpedo could take place. It is an open handicap in which ZUCKERBERG (Leg 6, 3:50) is worth siding with now he goes back over fences having caught the eye when a recent fourth over hurdles at Catterick. Destined To Shine is sure to have a say in reproducing the form of his course and distance second last time with the unexposed Black Pirate not taken lightly either.
