The 12-year-old, trained by Celia Plunkett, powered home to win by 14 lengths in impressive fashion. Speaking to Racing TV, she said: “He was just brilliant – I can’t believe it. I thought at one stage he might get beaten because of the way he was jumping, but he travelled so strongly throughout that I stayed calm. As long as I kept things together and didn’t let the race slip away, I knew we’d be okay. “Dad joked that I’d probably fall off after Sunday! I’m absolutely delighted.” Enqarde was making his first appearance since finishing second in a point-to-point at Chaddesley Corbett last April.
