March Stakes (3.00pm Goodwood)

This looks a penalty kick for HOO YA MAL.
Bought for £1.2 million following his second in the Derby, this could be his penultimate run on domestic soil before joining Gai Waterhouse for a tilt at the Melbourne Cup. The three-year-old has since finished third in the Gordon Stakes and he ran with plenty of credit on that occasion behind St Leger favourite New London.
Stepped up in trip to 14 furlongs for the first time, this trip looks sure to suit and he can enhance his credentials for the St Leger with success here.

Hopeful Stakes (3.15pm Newmarket)

Ready preference is for GREAT AMBASSADOR.
Seventh in Group company at Newbury in July, he was far from disgraced when sixth in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood when last seen. He was badly bumped entering the final furlong before running on really strongly under Saffie Osborne. Granted a clearer passage in this event, he is tough to oppose.
Of the opposition, both Mancaccan and Summerghand bring recent winning form to the table while both have also struck over course and distance and command plenty of respect. Daneh also looks a fascinating runner, placing in a brace of Group events including when last seen this time last year. It will be interesting to see how she fares with the three-year-old fillies' allowance.

Bet With Jenningsbet Handicap (3.50pm Newmarket)

This is a really interesting event.
Haliphon would be a serious player having beaten Alfred Boucher at Chester back in July, but he is also entered declared to run in the Lanark Silver Bell at Hamilton on Friday evening. He would be my pick but, with question marks over whther he runs, I’m going for SOAPY STEVENS.
He was a dual winner at Chester and Newmarket earlier this term, beating Alfred Boucher in the process on the Roodee. He was not disgraced when fourth in a competitive handicap at Goodwood in July and clearly commands respect despite blotting the copybook somewhat at York last time when a well-beaten last of 12 despite going off the 4-1 favourite.
Connections did not have an explanation for that effort, but he was very free in the early stages and if he can learn to settle better here he will be seen to better effect.

Paddy Power Supporting Cancer Trials Ireland Irish Cambridgeshire (4.15pm Curragh)

A €100,000 prize fund on offer and a cracking race in prospect.
Janoobi was a good second in a competitive event here earlier this month while Good Heavens scored in good style at Cork last month, but this big prize could rest between two Jessica Harrington runners.
Cowboy Justice commands plenty of respect based on his excellent third in a competitive handicap at Galway last month, but preference is for JUNGLE COVE. He has posted a number of fine efforts this term and produced a career best when readily landing a handicap at Ascot last time out at the Shergar Cup. He is up to 97, but gets on well with 10lb claimer Dylan Kidd which clearly makes things easier in terms of the weight he has to carry. With that in mind, he looks open to more improvement.

Bord Na Mona Recycling Apprentice Handicap (4.50pm Curragh)

This is a tough puzzle for punters to solve.
Walking On Clouds has been shaping well in defeat and must be respected while Ducky Mallon scored in good style over six furlongs last time at the this track.
But preference is for SHAMROCK SPRIG, who is proven over this trip and shaped nicely at Leopardstown in July. That was just her second start in handicap company and there should be more improvement to come with this filly.
