Racing TV's Harry Allwood shares his fancies for the action at York on Thursday, with another £10,000 up for grabs in the Paddy's Pick 5 Competition!

A couple of big-priced winners among the five races in the Paddy’s Pick 5 Competition on Wednesday meant no one scooped a share of the £10,000 on day one of the Sky Bet Ebor Festival at York.

Don’t worry, though, we still have three more days to try and win a share of the huge prize on offer!

You can enter Thursday’s competition for free below, and I have shared a selection for each of the five contests, which includes the Group One Darley Yorkshire Oaks.

Enjoy every race from York live on Racing TV, and please remember to gamble responsibly.

Karl Burke has kept it no secret how good he thinks this youngster is, and DRAMATISED produced a sharp turn of foot plus clocked some eye-catching sectionals en route to success on debut at Newmarket, despite showing signs of greenness.

That effort hinted she is a potential star in the making, and she impressed again when landing the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot next time out.

Admittedly, the form of that Group Two contest has taken a few knocks since, with the second, third and fifth all disappointing since. However, Dramatised scored in a good time again, and won with a bit to spare, with Danny Tudhope dropping his whip before the final furlong.

Like her trainer, I have no doubt the daughter of Showcasing is a Group One performer in the making, and the step up to six furlongs here should not be an issue.

She may have a quirk or two – she drifted left under pressure at Newmarket and Ascot – but that is probably her learning on the job, and she looks to have plenty of improvement left in her.

2.25 - Goffs UK Harry Beeby Premier Yearling Stakes

SHOULDVEBEENARING caught the eye when fourth on debut where he missed the break and looked in need of the experience before the penny finally dropped late on, and the impressive winner of that race, Rocket Rodney, finished a close second behind Little Big Bear in the Windsor Castle Stakes on his next start before gaining a Listed success.

Richard Hannon’s two-year-old took a big step forward when off the mark on his next start in a race that has worked out well. The third, sixth, eighth and tenth have all won twice since and Shouldvebeenaring was only pushed out under hands and heels to score cosily.

He clocked a reasonable time, too, given he wasn’t asked for maximum effort and was also forced to race wide throughout.

He did start a shade awkwardly again there, which is a slight concern, although was instantly involved in a barging match with another rival, and his draw in stall seven here should allow him to get some cover.

An absence of 95 days suggests he may have suffered a slight setback since, but connections wouldn’t aim him at a race of this nature if they didn’t think he was up to it on his return, and Richard Hannon has won four of the past six renewals of the £250,000 contest.

3.00 - Clipper Logistics Handicap

Plenty you can make a case for here, but NORTHERN EXPRESS thrives in big-field, well-run races and this contest should bring out the best in him.

The Michael Dods-trained four-year-old has improved again this season and impressed at this track when defeating Orbaan with plenty to spare three starts ago.

Things didn’t go to plan for him over the same course and distance next time out, but he finished a close fourth in a similar handicap to this when last seen and a repeat of that should see him go close here, despite having a 3lb higher mark to contend with now.

Stall 12 isn’t exactly a positive, although I’m hoping it will allow him to tuck in behind rivals and this strong traveller will be delivered late by Paul Mulrennan.

A step up to a mile does pose a question mark, given he has raced predominantly over seven furlongs for the past couple of seasons. However, he has been strong at the finish on more than one occasion and an extra furlong may bring out even more improvement in him.

Providing he gets some luck in running, he should be involved in what is likely to be a busy finish.

3.35 - Darley Yorkshire Oaks

An intriguing renewal of the Darley Yorkshire Oaks in which ALPINISTA holds strong claims of recording her fifth successive Group One victory.

Sir Mark Prescott’s superstar has produced some strong form in France and Germany over the past 12 months and has shown bundles of improvement since her last outing in Britain.

She doesn’t appear ground dependant and thrives over this trip plus clocked a decent time in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on her return to action, which should have her primed for this.

Tuesday needs to bounce back to form, and Lilac Road and Magical Lagoon need to step up again, so I would rate La Petite Coco as the main danger.

4.10 - British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes

A field full of hugely exciting prospects and a chance is taken on TIME LOCK. The Frankel filly is certainly bred to be useful and while she didn’t show a great deal on debut, the youngster benefitted dramatically from the experience to land a Newmarket Novice Stakes in impressive fashion on her next start.

She had her rivals strung out at the finish there and the runner-up is now rated 89, so there is some substance to the form, and she was a shade unfortunate not to defeat Mimikyu at Haydock when last seen as she was conceding 6lb to that rival who she also suffered interference from in the closing stages. She probably wasn’t best suited by the soft ground, either.

She meets that rival, who has since won a handicap by six lengths, off level weights this time and has been given time to recover from her Haydock exertions. The return to better ground will suit, and I would have her shorter in the betting here.
