William Haggas tempted to run One Master over a mile before her retirement

William Haggas is tempted to run his surprise Qatar Prix de la Foret winner One Master over a mile before she possibly heads into retirement.

The four-year-old was due to be kept in training, but as a Group One winner already she is a valuable broodmare prospect.

Given the fact the Foret is the only seven-furlong Group One in Europe, Haggas is thinking of stepping her up in trip for a possible swansong.

“The plan was to always keep her in training, but I don’t know now, I just need to sit down with the owners and discuss what we are going to do next,” he said.

“The problem is that the only Group One over seven furlongs is the Foret and she’s won that and will have a Group One penalty in every race next year, bar the Maurice de Gheest.

“So we might look at a mile option before we put her to bed.

“We might – just might – see if she gets a mile because she relaxed so well. There’s lots of speed in her family, but I think it’s well worth giving her a shot over a mile.”
