Watch what Jeremy Noseda had to say in a revealing interview on Luck On Sunday this morning.
Cenotaph will be Jeremy Noseda’s final runner as a trainer when he tackles the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday, he revealed on Racing TV’s Luck on Sunday programme.
The Newmarket handler announced his imminent retirement last week and had hoped to have two runners at the Royal meeting, with Cenotaph due to be joined by impressive York winner Bomb Proof, who holds entries in the Windsor Castle Stakes on Wednesday and Thursday’s Norfolk Stakes.
However, Noseda revealed Bomb Proof had suffered a setback and would now miss the Royal meeting.
“Bomb Proof unfortunately had a setback training yesterday morning, so he doesn’t run and now I’m just down to one,” said the trainer.
“But that is horse racing and I’ve been there, seen it, done it. The sadness is for my owners. Two of them were with me when the horse worked and everything was spot-on, but then an hour after he’d worked the dream was gone.”
Cenotaph will bid to provide Noseda with a second Wokingham success, nine years on from the dominant victory of the heavily-backed favourite Laddies Poker Two.
He added: “The horse is in great order and he’ll run well. To win would be the icing on the cake.
“I’m not going there with any real expectations. He’s definitely no Laddies Poker Two, that’s for sure.
“We’ll go there and enjoy the day and that’s it.”
