The 10-year-old will be making his seventh consecutive Festival appearance next month and does at least have a victory in the 2013 Neptune Novices' Hurdle, now sponsored by Ballymore, to his credit. The New One will be running at his seventh Cheltenham Festival (PA)
This will be his first run over three miles, though, having repeatedly come up short in the Champion Hurdle over two.
"It will be an interesting experiment as it will be his first time over three miles," Twiston-Davies told At The Races.
"Some people think it will bring about huge improvement in him and he seems this season to be better than he's ever been, so let's have a look.
"I think we're forced into it. We've taken on Buveur D'Air however many times and he beats us every time, so I've got to grow up and try something else.
"Funnily enough, I've known for years and years how tough he is but now he seems to be the most appreciated horse in the world - everybody loves him now, which is really good."
The New One can be backed at 12-1 for the Stayers' Hurdle.
Meanwhile, David Pipe will make a decision closer to the time on which race 2015 Champion Bumper winner Moon Racer will contest at Cheltenham.
Pipe said: "Moon Racer seems to have come out of the race at Newbury well. Although he finished 11th, the handicapper has left him on the same mark. He will be entered in both the County Hurdle and the Coral Cup. We will make a decision closer to the time as to which one he will run in."
