The Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase is the only viable target for Duke Of Navan at Cheltenham, but if a handicap at Aintree in April is the preferred option, he might first take in another race at Doncaster in early March.
"He's fine. I'm not sure where he'll go next, " said trainer Nicky Richards.
"We've a couple of options. He could go straight to Cheltenham for the Grand Annual or he could go back to Doncaster and then on to Aintree.
"I'll have a little chat with the owners and hopefully we'll get it right."
Richards has named the Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase at Cheltenham as the target for Guitar Pete.
"He's good. We've just started again. We'll wait for the two-and-a-half-miler at Cheltenham," said the Greystoke handler.
Guitar Pete won the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham in December but unseated his rider at Ascot on his latest start.
