Mark Rowntree has fancies at Ayr and Ballinrobe, meetings you can watch live on Racing TV, plus is sweet on one at Windsor.
2.15 Ayr: Spirit Of Nature
Unraced for Godolphin, Spirit Of Nature hasn’t shown much (0-4) since joining Jim Goldie for 32,000 guineas. However, the fact that he has undergone two separate wind operations suggests a physical issue might have been holding him back.
His recent Class 6 (0-65) comeback run should provide this still unexposed four-year-old - a half-brother to five winners, including the UAE Listed scorer Remorse - with added confidence.
Scarcely any appeal in such a weak 0-50 Classified contest so, noting that he’s also in at Hamilton on Tuesday evening, he could be poised to make a more positive impression.
5.26 Ballinrobe: Minella Buoy
Minella Buoy looked limited on the Flat but, as the first foal from Neil King’s multiple hurdles winner Cubswin, there was always a fair chance that he would take well to obstacles.
His trainer John Nallen saddled the first Irish juvenile hurdle winner of the year (Minella Rockett) at Limerick in early July, and this youngster made a good fist of things losing out in a tight finish at Killarney.
With natural progress anticipated, he’s well placed to go one better.
5.45 Windsor: Mythological Star
Mythological Star, closely related to the 2023 Cambridgeshire winner Astro King, was steadily progressive in novice company and raised his game further when making a winning handicap debut at Ffos Las last week.
He moves up in trip - should suit on pedigree - carrying a 6lb penalty in this apprentices’ contest and, looking ahead to other options later this week (will escape a penalty if successful), this looks the perfect spot for one capable of running up a sequence.
6.27 Ballinrobe: Koeur A Prendre
Koeur A Prendre travelled ominously well at Killarney latest but a far-from-fluent jump, and minor contact at the last, handed the initiative to Luck Between Us.
The pair were well clear of the remainder, that effort confirming the previous improvement shown from Mark Molloy’s charge on Clonmel handicap debut.
Dropping back to an extended 2m should not present a problem, and the services of the promising Daniel King have been secured.
