Long-standing PR guru Mike Dillon to leave Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes’ PR director Mike Dillon is to leave the company in July after 46 years’ service.
Dillon joined the business in 1972 and has long been the public face of the bookmaker, making notable connections with plenty of famous racing names, including the late Sir Peter O’Sullevan.
Dillon said: “Following the merger with Coral and more recently the takeover by GVC, now seemed the perfect time to move on.
“I’ve had a truly amazing time with Ladbrokes with many great memories and have worked with some fantastic colleagues who made the job such a pleasure for me for so long.
“I have had the privilege of meeting and getting to know some of the most influential people in racing and it has been enthralling to observe their dedication to our sport.”
“But now is not the time to reflect, but a time to look forward and I would like to think that I still have plenty to offer our great sport that means so much to me.”
Kenny Alexander, CEO of GVC, said: “Mike Dillon has been one of the most recognisable figures in the racing industry for over 40 years and has contributed enormously to Ladbrokes’ success during that period.
“From helping to revitalise the Grand National in the 1970s through to the inaugural running of last December’s thrilling Ladbrokes Trophy, Mike’s passion and enthusiasm for the sport and our company has shone through in all he has done.
“He has a deserved reputation for being one of the most knowledgeable figures within the industry and has served Ladbrokes brilliantly. We wish him every success in the future when he leaves our business at the end of July.”
