Ken Condon has Ayr raid on Mamba Noire agenda

Ken Condon is eyeing another British foray with Lowther third Mamba Noire, pinpointing a trip to Ayr next month as a possible target.

The two-year-old had already raced three times on these shores before lining up at York last week, when she was trying to put a lacklustre previous effort at Newmarket behind her.

Mamba Noire did indeed post an improved performance in finishing two and a half lengths behind Threading in the Group Two heat and Condon is looking towards the William Hill Firth of Clyde Stakes at Ayr on September 23.

He said: "I was pleased with her run, I thought the winner looked to be a really nice filly and our filly ran well.

"I would say stepping her up in trip may be a possibility in the future, but we're going to just give her a little break now and then we'll look towards the Firth of Clyde over six furlongs at Ayr towards the end of September.

"Shane (Foley, jockey) said it was probably yielding ground at York and you have to run on different types of ground to really get a picture about what they like.

"She's shown some good form on easier ground now as well as good to firm in the past.

"I was very pleased with her run, though, as she had disappointed in the Sweet Solera before, for whatever reason, so it was good to see her bounce back.

"She is a very talented filly."
