Katie Midwinter: five fancies for Leopardstown on Saturday

Our Tipstar champion has a 14/1 fancy in Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes plus has four more selections to ponder.

 1.10 Leopardstown: Indigo Dream (each-way)

The Ross O’Sullivan-trained Indigo Dream represents plenty of value at double-figure odds in the opening race in Leopardstown's card, the Listed Ingabelle Stakes.
The Havana Grey filly chased home the promising Red Letter when sent off at 50/1 on her penultimate start, staying on strongly, whilst still showing signs of greenness, to finish ahead of subsequent winner Ballet Slippers.
She then finished a three-length second to the reopposing Chantez, sticking to her task towards the line having been a bit short of room as the race developed.
Although she faces a tough task to reverse the form, she holds strong each-way claims at generous odds of 20/1 under Gary Carroll.

1.40 Leopardstown: Green Impact

A tight-knit four-runner field heads to post in the Group Two Juvenile Stakes, in which Delacroix is likely to be favourite. However, it is course-and-distance winner Green Impact, an imposing son of Wootton Bassett, who makes plenty of appeal at general odds of 2/1.
Trained by Jessica Harrington, the colt finished a neck second to Hazdann on debut, finished ahead of Currawood, who finished two-and-a-quarter-lengths behind The Lion In Winter on his next start.
Reopposing Bernard Show and Richmond Stakes winner Black Forza were further behind, plus subsequent Listed winner Apples And Bananas, as well as two other Ballydoyle representatives who have won since.
Green Impact then beat Delacroix on his most recent run, showing plenty of potential, and can improve further on that outing to confirm the form.

2.15 Leopardstown: Mountain Bear (each-way)

Diego Velazquez is a short price to for the Group Two Solonaway Stakes but it’s his stablemate, Mountain Bear, who makes plenty of each-way appeal at double-figure odds.
Mountain Bear was beaten only half-a-length by Mutasarref  in a Group Three  at the track last time, finishing with a flourish from off the pace in a steadily-run race.
The son of No Nay Never had finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf last term, plus was beaten only two lengths by Haatem in the Jersey Stakes.
If the ground doesn’t become deteriorate, he can use his speed to good use over this mile. Chris Hayes has only ridden four Aidan O’Brien-trained runners, but has a 50 per cent strike-rate.

2.50 Leopardstown: Ylang Ylang

A 1,500,000gns purchase as a yearling, Frankel filly Ylang Ylang has shown a good level of form, including winning the Fillies’ Mile last season and being beaten by only a length when fifth in the 1000 Guineas.
The ground had dried out too much for her to have a significant impact at Newmarket, but she stayed on well to the line to finish within hailing distance of Porta Fortuna.
Ylan Ylang can reverse the form on slightly softer conditions here after two below par efforts. She was reported to have suffered an injury in the Oaks on her penultimate start, and probably needed the run when last seen. She can bounce back here.

3.25 Leopardstown: Luxembourg (each-way)

Luxembourg landed this prize two years ago and was edged out by stablemate Auguste Rodin 12 months ago when defending his crown. I like his each-way claims here at double-figure digits.
He won the Coronation Cup when making all over a mile-and-a-half on his penultimate start at Epsom, before struggling to make an impression on his latest outing in the King George
The drop in trip on easier ground will suit, and he remains a force to be reckoned with on a going day. Considering his track record and general reliability, he looks overpriced at 14/1.
