Ireland has gone from a backwater when it comes to food to one of the best places to eat in the world.
You may scoff, but we have far better coffee than you get in Italy or France.
All of this is available at The Curragh on Saturday, with its Taste Of Kildare promotion. To pay for this, a winner or four would help.
Magical Zoe was an easy winner of the race in which this gelding was a pleasing fourth at Wexford. He was messed around badly at the first and, at a tricky track with a lack of experience, it was a very good run. This doesn't look much of a race.
My bet of the day. Mile End’s sire, Expert Eye, is doing well, and this filly's nursery debut is worth another look. She was in with no realistic chance after a sloppy break and her rider only got after her belatedly, when she flashed home into a very unlikely fifth. She should be much sharper here in blinkers, she's down 2lb and this is a weak race for the track.
A brother to Luxembourg, this horse has been understandably short in the market all three starts and he really stamped his class on things in his maiden win last time. That was a smart maiden, yet he hacked up, and I feel ratings are really misleading in races like this. He looks a great bet at the 5-1 on offer.
A little bit of a speculative one but this horse has taken my eye a few times, including on debut at The Curragh, and he's a huge price after his last run, which just might be worth forgiving. Two runs ago he looked all over a winner for much of the race.
