Johnny Ward's Irish Angle: Diamond ready to sparkle at Limerick

Our Irish racing expert reveals his bets bets for the racing action at Fairyhouse and Limerick on Saturday which will be shown live on Racing TV.

What a cracking day's racing we have in Newmarket, with Thunder Moon strongly fancied to advertise his credentials as the most likely winner of the 2000 Guineas next season by taking the Dewhurst, the proviso being the terrain.

In Ireland, owners are no longer able to go racing, and it is a pretty sad state of affairs as Covid-19 case numbers rise with winter on the way. A winner or two would do no harm.

1.35 Fairyhouse: Jeremys Flame at 13-8 with Boylesports

Jeremys Flame is quite an exciting mare to go chasing for Gavin Cromwell this season. She managed to finish second to Fiddlerontheroof in the Tolworth last season and could be a serious force this season.

She can race keenly, but she has lots of class.

2.40 Fairyhouse: Lord Lariat at a general 9-4

This one ran into an enigmatic Gavin Cromwell-trained winner last time, but he was miles clear of the third and again travelled well.

He seemed to go well enough on the ground and he remains well-treated over fences, despite his rise.

Indeed, given his size, he should be able to better his hurdles form.

2.59 Limerick: Pretty Rebel at a general 12-1

This filly was very eye-catching on her third maiden start at Gowran Park in July.

Inexperience was her downfall at Fairyhouse on her handicap debut when she broke poorly, but she should be much wiser here for a yard going places.

3.50 Fairyhouse: Guido Reni at a general 10-1

With one win from 31 starts, this horse is hardly a serial winner, but he's been in great form on the flat in recent months and the ground should be to his liking, as well as the sharp track.

Karl Thornton, who trains locally, is in terrific form as well.

4.05 Limerick: Dashing Diamond at a general 15-2

It goes without saying that Dreal Deal will be well-fancied here after laughing at the handicapper over hurdles at Navan.

However, Dashing Diamond has a rock-solid each-way chance and her credentials are all the stronger due to the booking of Dylan Browne McMonagle.

5.00 Fairyhouse: Call His Bluff at a geneal 6-1

With his yard in form, it was surprising how weak Call His Bluff was at Killarney last time, but he travelled and ran well.

Dropping back in trip looks a good move on that evidence and he has one of these races in him.
