John Gosden considers Breeders' Cup mission with Roaring Lion

Sun 15 Oct 2017

John Gosden is not ruling out sending Royal Lodge winner Roaring Lion to America next month for a tilt at the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.

The mile Grade One contest at Del Mar on November 4 is one of two top-level options, alongside the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on October 28, under consideration for the unbeaten son of Kitten's Joy.

Roaring Lion made it three wins from as many starts when he claimed the Group Two Royal Lodge at Newmarket by a neck.

Gosden said: "No final decision has been made whether he goes to America, whether he goes to the Racing Post Trophy or whether he doesn't run again.

"We don't have to make a decision yet. He has been in good form from the Royal Lodge.

"I would not want to run him if it went soft at Doncaster as he has got a lovely action.

"If he doesn't go the Breeders' Cup I am unlikely to have any runners there."
