Jessica McLernon was was crowned Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Employee of the Year at an awards ceremony on Monday and appeared as a guest on our weekly breakfast programme Luck On Sunday.

Richard Fahey’s assistant trainer spoke about her success and also nominated three horses trained at Musley Bank to add to your Racing UK tracker.

Horse: SANDS OF MALI

Finished seventh of 11 on his racecourse debut last season but improved for the experience when he bolted up in a six-furlong Novices Stakes at Nottingham on his next start.

Produced a career best to win the Group Two Gimcrack Stakes at York in August but disappointed in two races at the highest level afterwards.

The McLernon view: “Sands Of Mali is one that we’re really looking forward to this year. He won the Gimcrack and his most recent run was in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar.

“He might go down the 2000 Guineas route, but sprinting is probably where he needs to be. I’m sure Richard will have a board meeting with his owners and decide on a plan for him.”

Horse: GREAT PROSPECTOR

Age: 3. Form: 13246

Looked a bright prospect when he was successful on his racecourse debut at Nottingham in June before he finished a close third in a Group Two at Newmarket.

Finished a close second in the valuable Goffs Premier Yearling Stakes at York in August and was last seen when sixth in the Dewhurst Stakes, his first attempt in a Group One. The son of Elzaam has a rating of 106.

The McLernon view: “Great Prospector is another bice prospect. He was a real good horse last year and he will probably go for the European Free Handicap at Newmarket over seven furlongs on April 18.

“I’m hoping Great Prospector and Sands Of Mali can fly the flag for us this year.”

Horse: DANCE DIVA

Age: 3. Form: 111287

Completed a hat-trick in her first three starts over six furlongs last season before she lost her unbeaten record when she finished second in the Juddmonte Stakes at Ascot in July.

Disappointed on her first attempt over seven furlongs thereafter before she ran below par in the Rockingham Stakes on her final start in October.

The McLernon view: “She’s a filly owned by Cheveley Park Stud Ltd and may go for one of the Guineas Trials in April.

“Fingers crossed she’s another one who can fly the flag for us in the fillies’ division and she’s one to follow.”
