How telling is it that the on-fire Gordon Elliott attacks one of his favourite fixtures at Down Royal on Saturday with 14 runners, while Willie Mullins has none at all.

Mullins has four runners closer to home at Gowran Park, where his main rival has double that figure.

2.20 Down Royal: Envoi Allen

Gerri Colombe is probably priced more on potential, rather than achievement here.

Envoi Allen is very hard to get right and he floundered a bit at Gowran Park on his return, but the ground was terrible then, and either his performance in this race last year, or his subsequent victory in the Ryanair at the Cheltenham Festival, may well be enough to score here.

2.32 Gowran Park: Diamboy Des Carres

Finished: 2ndSP: 11/2

Ile Atlantique should take a lot of beating here, but this rival is no mug.

A beautiful, big horse, he shaped really well after a long layoff at Limerick in October.

He won his bumper on similar ground, has no penalty, and Rob James takes off seven pounds.

3.28 Down Royal: Clonmeen

Finished: 1stSP: 10/1

Willie Murphy is more than capable trainer, and this Stowaway gelding produced an excellent performance when stepped up in trip at Fairyhouse last time out, beating all bar the in-form Nobody Home.

He has plenty of potential in races like this, and is the one to side with here.
