Irish horse racing tips: Johnny Ward's bets for Fairyhouse

I would put the Flat ahead of National Hunt when it comes to affections, but days like Saturday show the power of the jumps scene in that two or three performances within a few minutes of each other make you forget there even was Flat racing this year!

Jonbon and Facile Vega have a wow factor and it is the horses that promote the sport more than anything. These superstars are to racing PR what Messi is to football, in some respects.

Sunday’s racing at Fairyhouse needs little introduction, and you can watch every race live on Racing TV. Be lucky.

11.55 Fairyhouse: Malina Girl

With the yard struggling so badly for a winner, John Ryan's pair are opposable, and at least one of them is a pace angle in a race in which there looks sure to be an advantage if you are held up, like Malina Girl will be.

She stays really well and makes plenty of appeal each-way, with Sky Bet paying four places.

1.25 Fairyhouse: Path D'oroux

Path D'oroux looks as appealing a bet each-way at 8-1 that I have seen for a good while.

Again, this race looks sure to be run at a strong pace, and I certainly wouldn't trust Hercule De Seuil to keep that pace up. Path D'oroux will stay a good deal further than this, though, and there was a bit of a wow factor about his performance at Galway, when he was remarkably well-backed.

He looks very smart.

2.30 Fairyhouse: Echoes In Rain

This mare is now rated 102 on the Flat, so she could have even more to offer over hurdles over this trip, and it's hard to see her not placing here if she runs her race, which she tends to do.

She looks a lovely each-way bet, and if Honeysuckle has an off-day, Echoes In Rain can score.
