Invincible Army signed off for the season by Jame Tate

Tue 10 Oct 2017

All roads lead to next year's Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot for Invincible Army after trainer James Tate opted to draw stumps for the season.

The son of Invincible Spirit was placed in the Molecomb and Gimcrack, as well as winning the Sirenia Stakes, and finished second in the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury on what was his final start of 2017.

Tate said: "He is done for the year. He has done well given he came from the breeze-up sale in April and has managed to run seven times."

He added: "He will be campaigned towards the Commonwealth Cup next year.

"He was unlucky at Newbury. Frankie Dettori made the first move on the winner (James Garfield).

"My lad was a bit squeezed up and didn't get a fair go at the winner.

"He was definitely an unlucky second and he should have finished closer."
