Our website tipsater Dave Nevson shares his three best bets for Hamilton Park on Wednesday, including two fillies who are worth noting in the longer-term. Enjoy further action from Beverley, Warwick and Gowran Park live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.
She improved rapidly when stepped up to six furlongs last year and, but for bad draws and track positioning, might well have won more than the two handicaps she won with ease.
Lady Nectar’s run of form came despite most of the stable’s runners being badly out of form and Ann Duffield had very few runners during the winter. Things are beginning to look a little better for the yard now and this filly might be a flag bearer this summer judged on her winning return.
She beat a bang in-form improver in Ghathanfar at Thirsk and a 4lb rise for a sprinter is not massively significant. Lady Nectar is up in grade here, but she certainly looks up to it and she is a filly to follow.
This lightly-raced filly ran really well on her handicap debut last time and she is clearly well-enough handicapped to win off her current mark - and from a higher rating in due course in my view.
Celtic Empress had the re-opposing Soller Bay behind her last time, and looks more likely to improve than that filly to boot. She was slowly into stride not put under maximum pressure to finish a very close second.
Celtic Empress represents a classy family who mature and progress with racing and stable is in very good form. She is another filly to follow closely.
Sound Of Iona is 4lb below her last winning mark and has hinted on several occasions that she is poised to score.
You can put a line through her first two runs this term, as she was hampered on seasonal debut and then ended up alone in the centre of the track at Doncaster. Things went much better last time over this course and distance last when she was ridden quietly behind an improver. Sound Of Iona was dropped 1lb for that effort.
The opposition here consists of plenty of old favourites, and a back-to-form Sound of Iona should beat these comfortably at her best.
