Horse racing tips: Harry Allwood's best bets for Monday

Harry Allwood has four fancies across three meetings on Monday, including one at Pontefract which will be shown live on Racing TV.
He may be a nine-year-old now, but Wynford has proved the fire still burns on his past two starts, despite his advancing years, and he was unlucky not to make it back-to-back victories on his latest outing.
The Rebecca Menzies-trained gelding was value for more than the winning margin suggests when scoring at Carlisle in August where he was forced to challenge widest of all – he also took a while to pull up after the line – and suffered traffic problems at a crucial stage when a never-nearer third at this track the following month.
Although he is now 3lb above his last winning mark, the veteran certainly looks capable of winning off a rating of 69, based upon his past two efforts, and he was successful over this course and distance last year under Kevin Stott, who is back on board on Monday.
The give in the ground will suit and, granted better luck in running, there is no reason why he won’t go close again.
This four-year-old looked a typical improver for the Sir Michael Stoute yard last year and, after getting off the mark at the fifth attempt in a maiden, he was well supported prior to bolting up in a 0-95 handicap off a rating of 86.
He was then unlucky not to finish closer when beaten two lengths in a strong handicap off a 10lb higher mark at York before running below-par on his final start in 2021, with something presumably amiss there, given he was not seen again for almost 12 months.
However, he shaped with plenty of promise on his return to action at Newmarket where he travelled nicely and wasn’t given a hard time under pressure suggesting the run was needed.
The selection now finds himself on a rating of 92, which looks lenient based upon the form he produced last year and, providing he avoids the bounce factor, he could prove hard to beat, especially as he’s proven with give underfoot.
Roger Teal’s charge finally came good when winning with a bit to spare off a rating of 75 at Kempton in August and ran respectably in the London Mile Series Final on his next outing where he raced wide throughout and was beaten just over three lengths.
That was off a rating of 79 and, returning to turf, he is able to race off his last winning mark on Monday plus Frederick Larson takes off a useful 5lb.
My Mate Ted failed to land a blow in three starts on good ground this year but finished second on heavy ground last year and if he is able to show his best on his return to this surface, then he is certainly handicapped to go close in this 0-82 handicap.
The selection has attracted support already, but is still worth siding with at 6-1, and his handler has been operating at a 31 per cent strike-rate in the past fortnight, which is another positive, as is his draw in stall three.
Golden Mayflower looked a potentially above-average performer when scoring impressively on debut last year and returned this season with a promising effort at Kempton behind Al Husn, who won her next two starts.
It’s fair to say Amy Murphy’s charge was a shade disappointing upped in class on her next two outings, but she must be held in relatively high regard by connections to contest a Listed contest on her third start, and she was given a wind op before returning from a three-month absence to finish down the field in a competitive handicap at Newcastle.
She shaped like the run was needed there, though, and has been dropped to a rating of 78 by the handicapper which, on her previous promise, certainly looks fair.
This 0-80 contest is the lowest grade the daughter of Golden Horn has contested since her debut, and it will be disappointing if she cannot at least go close returning to this level.
