Our pundit Dave Nevison reflects on a good week and the changing seasons and shares his three fancies for Tuesday’s action. Enjoy live action from Exeter, Gowran Park and Kempton on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.

We’ve had enough recent winners to keep the wolf from the door and Chairmanoftheboard was particularly satisfying last week. I’m going to have to start looking at the jumpers much more with Cheltenham coming at the weekend, but the Exeter card hasn’t much appeal so I’m sticking to the Flat to kick off the week.

4.50 Yarmouth: Katyusha

Katyusha showed much improved form when a fast-finishing third over this course and distance last time. Though a maiden filly in a handicap, she looks one worth risking here.

That was her first run on turf and, under similar conditions again, she really doesn’t have to do much more off the same mark. She was staying on very well at the death last time, so a good pace here would certainly suit.

6.30 Kempton: Busby

Busby makes his stable debut for Phil Kirby and, if he’s settled in well, he’s certainly well-handicapped as well as suited by course and distance.

He’s done me a couple of favours previously, including one at a big price this time last year – he then went on a winning spree for a while but pretty much completely lost his form afterwards. A a result, he’s now 6lb below his first winning mark and fully 18lb below his highest handicap rating.

Busby has had a couple of stable changes since he was winning and they haven’t seemed to improve his lot. He looked as though he was being used to school an apprentice with Ivan Furtado but the signs were better last time out – he was gambled on under Silvestre de Sousa and might well have won but for blowing the start.

8.30 Kempton: Like Sugar

It looks like she’ll get the lead and, provided it doesn’t get frenetic up-front, I think that should be enough for her to win here.

Like Sugar certainly seems to be in form after returning from a summer break, only beaten a head in a three-way photo here last time. Raised 1lb for that, she certainly could have gone up more in the weights and I think she could be one to be with, certainly this side of Christmas. Her yard is in very good form at present.
