Dave Nevison tipped On A Session (3-1) on Wednesday and has another three fancies for Thursday's action at Haydock and Newbury, live on Racing TV.
Has run two creditable races under Mark Winn (who has ridden a couple of winners this year for David O’Meara) on her last two starts and has a good chance of scoring in this apprentice handicap.
She will definitely get the fast pace that seems to suit her in this bigger field and the fact that she has gradually been dropped down in the weights for running quite well suggests she has plenty going for her here.
8.08 Newbury: Wonder Starelzaam
A couple of horses I have backed recently - Hotspur Harry and Katyusha - have chances in this 0-75 handicap and will probably win soon, but they look as though they are up against it with Wonder Starelzaam who has no penalty for his recent course success in an apprentice rider’s event.
This is the last day he can run off the same mark, so this looks a good bit of placing by Denis Coakley who has already got his charge to win three times this year.
The drop back in trip won’t be an issue and his rider, George Bass, who has scored four times aboard the selection since he joined his current yard, can claim 5lb again in this open handicap.
The Covex Kid didn’t manage to complete a four-timer at Lingfield last time out, but he had valid excuses, and there is every chance he can pick up the winning thread in this slightly lower grade on Thursday.
He was drawn widest of all at Lingfield, so was unable to get cover and, to make matters worse, his rider dropped his whip halfway through the race, so to be beaten only one and a half lengths was another improved performance.
He is well drawn in the middle of the straight mile here and should be able to sit just off the pace. He may still have improvement left in him, too, and has a good chance off the same rating here.
