Dave Nevison has been in red-hot form this week and reveals his selections for Musselburgh and Haydock on Friday, live on Racing TV.
Is now 25lb below his last winning mark which came in a Nursery Handicap at the end of his two-year-old campaign, but the step up to the longest trip he has tackled might rectify that situation for the six-year-old on Friday.
Scanning through his form, it is difficult to see how Caballero has not won a race since 2018 as he has run very well several times, and when he does hit form, he runs consistently.
He seems to have run himself back into form this season and shaped well at Hamilton on his past two starts, including for this rider.
The selection will get a strongly run race here and, given that he tends to stay on well, that should suit. With his stable back in form, this may just be the day Caballero finally gets back to winning ways.
Seemed to be poised to hit form when he was last seen in April, so hopefully whatever has kept this five-year-old off the track since is not serious, as he looks to have plenty going for him in this contest for Female Amateurs.
He is certainly very well handicapped, even if his best efforts have come on the all-weather, and he has run some decent races on turf, including over this course and distance, plus is now 5lbs lower than when he last ran on this surface.
His trainer, David Loughnane, has his string in good form and has booked the excellent Becky Smith for the mount.
It is also highly possible that Richard R H B will be able to set his own pace here, which should be an advantage.
This three-year-old starts handicapping off a very workable mark and looks the progressive contender in this field.
Monica is related to several horses with a fair amount of ability and has not run badly on her first three starts plus won nicely on her reappearance in a small field event when last seen.
It’s likely that was just a modest event, but the third won next time out, so the form has been franked. Danny Tudhope takes over for the first time and looks a strong jockey booking, while it seems highly likely Monica will improve again here.
