Our presenter, tipster and analyst Angus McNae is looking forward to the penultimate meeting of the season at on Sunday and shares four tips for a good card on the Knavesmire. Enjoy all the action live on Racing TV.
1.40 York: SHAH
This well-bred Sea the Stars colt can get off the mark after shaping with plenty of promise in the Convivial maiden here last time out.
Shah finished second to
there whilst still looking in need of the experience and after also shaping with encouragement when second on his prior debut at Leicster he is fancied to put his experience to good use.
The Convivial Maiden was won in a good time and the speed figure he produced should see him go one better this time.
2.50 York: BRIGHTON BOY
He is well-drawn in stall 3 over this six-furlong trip and he can bounce back to form.
had little chance from stall 16 in a strong nursery at
last time when deep on the track and ceding ground, but he was looked after once his chance had gone and can now return to the form that saw him win nicely at
on his previous start.
3.25 York: MARKOON
A fast-time win two starts ago suggests that he well-treated.
Markoon travelled strongly and found plenty for pressure at
in a win came off a lay-off and, while it may be that he bounced next time, I am more inclined to blame the step up in trip from a mile to 10 furlongs, meaning that he raced too keenly and did not get home.
This return to a mile looks ideal and this lightly-raced type can resume winning ways.
4.00 York: QUINAULT
Quinault looks to be on an upward curve now that he is settling better.
His fast-time win at Newmarket last time was impressive, travelling well and readily beating a strong field. He looked good too when winning on his previous start at Chester and he wore a reapplied hood for both of those wins.
The headgear is retained again and, with a low draw in sprints at the Ebor Festival proving important, he looks potentially well berthed in stall 2.
