4.05 Ascot: Study Of Words

Charlie Appleby’s lightly-raced gelding disappointed last time out (although in a race that looks pretty strong, based on next time performances), but that run was at a time when the yard was not going well, so it could easily be forgiven.
The Appleby team are in much better form now, and I am hopeful Study Of Words can bounce back, especially now he is upped a couple of furlongs in distance.
He won his maiden last season by 14 lengths, and ran very well on his reappearance plus has been dropped 2lb for his last outing.
4.40 Ascot: Mr Writer

James Fanshawe has had three winners in the past few days, and is in red-hot form, so I am hoping Mr Writer tees up a good weekend in 7f Ascot handicaps for the Newmarket handler.
The selection has won two of his past three starts, so looks very much on the up, and even on his penultimate start he finished fifth over a mile in a race that has worked out well.
Dropped back down to seven furlongs last time out, he won nicely at Leicester, and this distance certainly seems his ideal trip.
Ascot and Leicester are not at all dissimilar, and Mr Writer looks to have done well with the draw in stall ten.

5.12 Ascot: Paradise Walk

Paradise Walk is only 4lb higher than when beating a subsequent winner last time out, and such a rise means very little in a five-furlong sprint on fast ground, so I am happy rowing in with her to complete a hat-trick.
Both her wins have come when blinkered, and the Ralph Beckett-trained filly seems to apply herself purposefully with the headgear plus goes well under prevailing conditions.
She is a straightforward selection in another fillies' handicap.
