Friday selection box: Jump For Dough can rise to occasion

A mixture of flat and jumps today. We drew a blank last week, the first for some time. Onwards and upwards...

2.00 Lingfield: Bayston Hill

A course and distance winner two starts back, things didn’t work out quite so well last time at Wolverhampton.

Ridden with more restraint, he had to come wide in the straight before running on but this should suit far better.

He’s not quite so well drawn with Nicola Currie, on for his win last time, back in the saddle but there’s not a great deal of pace on and he should get handy. I expect his jockey to try and do the same again to be honest and 5lb higher shouldn’t stop him.

2.20 Musselburgh: Asum

A good winner on debut for his new yard, he made all that day and looks likely to get the run of things again on Friday.

He probably wants slightly better ground than he had last time and than he looks likely to get today but he’s lightly raced and still well treated on early form for different connections.

He’s a naturally free going type so I do not expect tactics to change from last time and he should have at least another win in him before things get tougher.

2.30 Lingfield: Human Nature

This is competitive, as you might expect for the feature on the card, and Human Nature could well be underestimated up in grade after a slightly disappointing effort on the face of it last time.

He’s a seven-furlong winner so will want pace at this trip and that looks likely.

He did best of those held up over course and distance last time and was short of room late on, though I’m not sure he would have won. He may be ridden that little bit closer to the pace here, as was the case for his last win, which came under today’s jockey Milly Naseb.

3.30 Musselburgh: Jump For Dough

[(full)Watch Replay] ()

This horse looks a more capable hurdler than he does chaser at this stage of his career and won over course and distance last time out.

He won’t be far from the pace in a race with a fair few hold up types and should continue to progress on only his fourth start for the yard.

He probably needed it first up this season and found the drop back in trip a little sharp at the end of November. We know this suits him and it’s not the deepest of races.
