Expert Eye tops 12 contenders for Celebration Mile honours

Mon 20 Aug 2018

Expert Eye is one of 12 confirmations for the Ladbrokes Celebration Mile at Goodwood on Saturday.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Royal Ascot-winning colt finished second to Lightning Spear in the Sussex Stakes over course and distance and would be a leading contender for Group Two honours.

Expert Eye is one of four three-year-olds in the shake-up, the others being Hey Gaman (James Tate), Nyaleti (Mark Johnston) and Altyn Orda (Roger Varian).

Beat The Bank was fifth in the Sussex and could renew rivalry for the Andrew Balding team.

William Haggas might saddle Addeybb and Whisky Baron, with Stormy Antarctic (Ed Walker) and Arod (David Simcock) and Zhui Feng (Amanda Perrett) other familiar names.

Richard Hannon’s Oh This Is Us and the Clive Cox-trained Zonderland finished a respective second and third in the Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury last week and could both make a brisk return to action.
