Picture perfect: Enable steals the show once again at York

Enable proved as infallible as ever when soaring to a 13th success in the Group One Darley Yorkshire Oaks.
The John Gosden-trained filly led from the off, pressuring her three rivals into a pace they could not maintain as she dominated from the stalls to the winning line.
Only Aidan O’Brien’s Magical could keep her company as the post neared, but the Galileo filly eventually fell away, leaving Enable to triumph under Frankie Dettori by two and a quarter lengths, at odds of 1-4.
All roads now lead to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, for what would be a history-making third success in Paris.
The second day of the Ebor Festival began with a rather less predictable result, as Karl Burke’s Living In The Past claimed the Group Two Sky Bet Lowther Stakes at a price of 12-1.
The Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes also produced a notable performance – very notable in fact.
This time it was not the result that surprised, but rather the manner in which Mums Tipple flew clear of his rivals, winning by an eventual 11 lengths under Ryan Moore. Richard Hannon’s colt unsurprisingly earned 2000 Guineas quotes and it will be fascinating to see where he goes next.
Joe Fanning just held off Dettori in the Clipper Logistics Handicap, urging What’s The Story to a hard-fought win by a mere head for Keith Dalgleish.
Search For A Song won the British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes for Oisin Murphy and Dermot Weld, after which Tim Easterby’s Excellent Times took the concluding contest at a huge 66-1.

Frankie Dettori celebrated a 13th victory aboard Enable by performing his famous flying dismount – likely to be the last time he does so from the superstar mare on British soil.
Quote of the day “To me he looks like he’ll still improve – not that he’d have to”

Battaash (right) takes on Ten Sovereigns and Mabs Cross (left) in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York
Conversation about Friday’s action revolves around a potentially thrilling clash between Battaash and Ten Sovereigns in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes over five furlongs. Charlie Hills’ Battaash is again enjoying a superb run of form, winning the King George Qatar Stakes at Goodwood for a third time and finishing second in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. His two runs in the Nunthorpe, however, have both produced fourth-placed finishes. Aidan O’Brien’s Ten Sovereigns heads to the Knavesmire to tackle the race for the first time, having decisively won the July Cup at Newmarket. Mabs Cross, trained by Michael Dods, could also make her presence felt, after her heartbreakingly narrow defeat of 12 months ago.
