Total
prize money for the 2019 Dubai World Cup meeting will be increased to US$35million, the Dubai Racing Club has announced.
The Dubai World Cup itself, contested for a purse of $10million since 2010, and for many of those years the world's richest race, will have its value raised to $12million.
The significance of that figure is that it produces a payout of $7.2million to connections of the first-placed horse, making it the highest first-place prize in world horse racing.
The Dubai Golden Shaheen will receives a $500,000 boost to $2.5million, while the Al Quoz Sprint will see its purse double to $2million.
While the $6 million Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, $6 million Dubai Turf, and $1 million Dubai Kahayla Classic will all maintain their purse money, the remaining three races will be worth an extra $500,000 each.
The Dubai Gold Cup sponsored by Al Tayer Motors, which has been won for three consecutive years by French superstar Vazirabad, will now be worth $1.5 million, making the two-mile contest one of the richest staying events in the sport.
