Amo Racing to adopt best available policy

Amo Racing will no longer use David Egan as its number one rider and the operation will now adopt a best available policy.
A report by The Daily Mail on Tuesday night suggested that the relationship between the 27-year-old jockey and Amo supremo Kia Joorabchian became strained following a blank week at Royal Ascot last month, leading to Egan resigning from his position as retained rider.
The Irishman was appointed top jockey for Amo in December 2023, taking over from Kevin Stott.
"No comment" - David Egan spoke to Racing TV at Leicester on Wednesday after riding Liveinthelight to victory.
His contract, originally for two years, was extended in June of last year, when, in a statement on X, the operation said: "David has been an integral part of our team and we look forward to building on that strong foundation together."
Egan's last ride for Amo Racing was on Glamorize at Nottingham on Tuesday, whom he steered to victory. He is however, still currently booked to ride Amo's Nuit D'Eclair in the Princess Margaret Japan Cup Stakes at Ascot on Saturday, as well as Pikachu in the Vintage Stakes at the Qatar Goodwood Festival on Tuesday.
It appears that Amo's 'second' rider Rowan Scott will now take over on many of Egan's intended mounts, though former retained rider Rossa Ryan could be in line for more regular rides in the purple silks after partnering two Amo-owned horses to success at the Curragh on Sunday. Ryan and Amo Racing parted ways in August 2022 by mutual consent.
