David Dennis ponders next move for Final Nudge

Sun 28 Jan 2018

David Dennis is considering options at Haydock and Sandown for Final Nudge following his fine effort to finish third in the Welsh Grand National.

Having been beaten just a head by Present Man in the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton, the nine-year-old was a leading contender for the rescheduled Chepstow marathon earlier this month and performed admirably to pick up minor honours behind Raz De Maree.

Haydock's Betfred Grand National Trial on February 17 is under consideration, although Dennis is leaning towards coming back in trip for the Masters Handicap Chase at Sandown at the weekend.

He said: "I was delighted with his third place in the Welsh National. He travelled very strongly in that race and we might now come back to three miles for a race at Sandown.

"There is either that or the Grand National Trial at Haydock. I am just a little bit unsure about his trip.

"Coming back to three miles at Sandown might be better for him."
