4.45 Hamilton: Belsito

I went with Belsito a couple of times early in the season in the hope that a wind operation might bring about improvement.
It proved costly, but after a few more runs it now looks as though  Kevin Ryan's sprinter is ready to win again after he was just run out of things close home at Southwell last time.
Artificial surfaces obviously suit this five-year-old, but so does soft ground on turf, so he has conditions in his favour here and the stiff uphill finish at Hamilton will definitely also suit.
He is a pound lower than his latest win, which came at the equally stiff Carlisle under today’s rider Tom Eaves.

5.15 Hamilton: Thornaby Pearl

A wind operation certainly looks to have had a positive effect on Thornaby Pearl judged by his win at this track in early August.
That win was over 5f, but this habitual front runner has plenty of form over 6f, including on soft ground. He looks set to get the lead here and hopefully his improved breathing will enable him to see the race out better than he might have in the past.
He is well enough handicapped, having won off a 2lb higher mark than he is running off here, and hopefully the Adrian Nicholls-trained sprinter might well be an improved performer this autumn.

5.45 Hamilton: Tracker Issue

Tracker Issue could be interesting at a big price here. He hasn’t run too badly at big prices in maidens in Ireland, but has clearly been a handicapping project all along.
He has crossed the Irish Sea and makes his debut for Adam Nicol here in a race full of very exposed types. He has been upped three furlongs in trip here and I expect that to suit him very well, as his dam scored her one win over 1m6f.
Both his sire and dam did well on softer ground, so I don’t expect conditions to be an issue and, with several front runners in the race, I am hoping the young horse’s stamina reserves will be drawn out and he can run a good race for his new connections.
