Storm Star’s form has taken a dive during the summer and, for three races, he was ridden by a 7lb claimer.

However, at Doncaster last time out, even though he was returned to an open handicap, he seemed to indicate he might be on the way back to form under David Probert.

He is now reunited with Oisin Murphy, who rode him to make a winning debut, and that is clearly no negative. He is also off a mark below his latest win over a trip that suits him well, so could be set for a decent autumn, with his trainer seemingly in constant top form these days.

4.25 Goodwood: Kissmehoneyhoney

This lightly-raced filly was out of her depth in Listed company here on her reappearance this year, and got bogged down in desperate ground last time out in a competitive handicap at Haydock. I believe both of those efforts can be written off, though.

Kissmehoneyhoney is bred to be a stayer who gets better with age, and I find it difficult to believe that William Haggas can’t get her to win a handicap off a rating of 78.

Hopefully the forecast strong pace, and faster ground, will suit her to much better effect here.

5.00 Goodwood: Percy’s Star (nap)

Percy’s Star came up against a much-improved, James Fanshawe-trained runner, who was returning from an absence, at Yarmouth last week, and although beaten a neck, the gelding pretty much appeals as a winner without a penalty.

He was three lengths clear of the third there, and Chris Dwyer is doing the right thing getting him out again quickly while he is still on this mark.

His latest effort came over seven furlongs, but he won over five furlongs four runs ago, and it is possible the drop back to six furlongs will prove ideal here.
