5.55 Carlisle: Burj Malinka

Amateur rider Jack Nicholls has ridden for nine different trainers in his past ten rides, so his services are clearly in serious demand for these sort of races.
His riding skills might well be the difference in this tight handicap, but his mount Burj Malinka has plenty going for him, anyway.
The Adrian Nicholls-trained six-year-old sprinter has won three times, all on ground softer than good, so will be well served by underfoot conditions here.
The selection has won off this mark before and even though that win was a while ago, Burj Malinka has run good races around this mark more recently. A wider draw shouldn’t be a disadvantage, either, and he should go close.
7.40 Warwick: Time For A Pint
Time For A Pint strolled home by 18 lengths over this course and distance 19 days ago under Benjamin Macey, who takes off a handy 10lb again here.
Despite a 10lb rise since, the O’Neill’s young chaser still looks to be well handicapped in a relatively uncompetitive contest.
Time for a Pint is often well backed for such a lowly-rated chaser (has won twice as favourite), so is clearly thought to be quite useful, and still has plenty in his favour here.
8.55 Carlisle: Vampire Slayer

I put up Vampire Slayer in a similarly modest handicap last time out as an each-way punt, and was happy to collect the place money, as well as being happy that I got on early as Daragh Bourke’s maiden was fairly well backed from double-figure odds!
I had ignored a run over hurdles at this track, where he received a quiet introduction, and had taken encouragement from his previous outing at Newcastle where he had stayed on in fairly eye-catching fashion.
Corsican Caper, who beat him last time out, has won twice since, so the form looks strong for this grade and a pound rise could well be generous.
The yard’s runner are going well at the moment and Andrew Mullen rode a winner for them recently.
