Dave Nevison's top tips for Wednesday: Make a move for Millie The Minx

I hope I am better at picking winners than predicting the weather as I am writing today’s column looking out on a clear sunny day Catterick having feared the Racing TV Club Day meeting might not go ahead.

There are dire weather warnings for Wednesday, so I have spread the tips around.

1.56 Market Rasen: Lady Master at 6-4 with William Hill

What separates decent chasers from the rest is jumping ability and though Lady Master has no pretensions to being high class she will win plenty of races in lowly grade because she jumps so much better than most at this level.

Indeed, she is with a yard who have always managed to get horses jumping well and it is one that is also in good form at present.

Lady Master is against geldings on Wednesday, which might make things more difficult than last time out, but I am confident of a good showing over the course she won at last time.

2.40 Musselburgh: Trongate at 15-2 with William Hill

Is due a win - as are a few in this - but the way he stayed on after being headed last time was encouraging.

He has been second in two recent runs at this track and I expect him to be ridden from the front. Against some modest opposition, he might just hold on.

3.50 Wincanton: Ask For Glory at a general 2-5

It is not often I stray out of handicaps for a bet but I had heard about this one before he made his hurdling bow at Newbury last time.

He didn’t manage to win it was still a seriously good effort to be fourth in a hot novice.

He is in the Ballymore at Cheltenham and will need to be winning this to entertain a run in that. I expect him to prove equal to the task.

4.40 Musselburgh: Millie The Minx at 9-1 with William Hill

I have had this one in my tracker possibly too long but she just has not run badly enough for me to remove her and I am still convinced she will win a couple of modest handicaps this season.

Her mark has dropped a few pounds over the winter and Danny McMenamin adds another 3lb of benefit.

Her trainer, Dianne Sayer, also fields the favourite in Summer Lightening but on her best runs Millie The Minx is no second string.
