Dave Nevison's top tips for Wednesday: Fighter can provide punch at Salisbury

Betting expert Dave Nevison has been in red-hot form with his tips over the past few days and has a further three fancies for the racing action at Beverley and Salisbury on Wednesday.

3.20 Salisbury: Sezim at a general 3-1

Beat an improving type in Harvey Dent at Chester last time out in good style. I am a little worried he hasn’t been seen since June as he looked poised to run up a sequence of good runs but, providing nothing untoward has occurred in the meantime, I expect progress to continue.

It may well have been down to him being in the July sales, as he returns to the track with a new owner here. His stable has certainly been in great form during the summer.

Chester is obviously a completely different track to Salisbury but Sezim has shown form on a wide variety of tracks in the past and looks a straightforward type.

Alfred Boucher looks set to lead but Sezim will be sat close and I expect him to get past.

3.30 Beverley: Invasion Day at 100-30 with Ladbrokes

Irish-trained horses have been winning modest UK handicaps for fun this season and David O’Meara has probably worked out that the best way to counteract well handicapped Irish horses coming over to England and winning is to get one and bring it over!

Whether that is the reason Invasion Day has ended up with O’Meara or not, the horse certainly looked as though he could win off his mark last time out at Gowran and looks to have been found a good opportunity to kick off with a win.

Trip and ground will be no issue for Invasion Day and Danny Tudhope in the saddle is an added plus.

The race is competitive but made up of horses who have few secrets from the handicapper. Invasion Day is 2lb below the mark he last ran well off in Ireland and has run well twice in non-handicaps since.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see this one well backed here.

4.20 Salisbury: Starfighter at a general 11-4

This in-form three-year-old was beaten by Starczewski last time but the way that one followed up in a decent event at Chelmsford on Saturday suggests we should probably upgrade that Yarmouth effort and mark Starfighter as well in, running off the same mark here.

His previous run at Newbury could also be rated higher as he was forced to switch to get a run in the last two furlongs. Trainer Ed Walker has his horses in peak form and everything points to a good run here on a track that suits his prominent run style.
