Dave Nevison's top tips for Saturday: Talkischeap can bounce back at Kempton

I have never seen so many horses with a small or large 'P' against their name when looking at Timeform’s card for the meeting at Kempton on Saturday.

That always strikes punting fear in me as I have learnt over the years that I am not at the best at guessing the rate of improvement in progressive young horses.

So be warned: it is a great afternoon’s racing on Saturday but finding the winners looks tough.

Nicky Henderson is always the first trainer to focus on at this track and Buzz, a useful Flat performer, has converted well to jumping obstacles.

There are others in the race who have won by larger margins but Buzz has shown he can travel well and jump economically in his wins and I believe he could well do the same against this much stronger opposition.

Has to prove he is back to form after a dismal performance behind Santini at Sandown in November but the memory of his win the bet365 Gold Cup at the same track in April will take a while to fade.

He has had a wind op and the young staying chaser warrants another chance. He is 12lb higher than for his big win but that would not have stopped him from scoring that day.

He travels and jumps with great enthusiasm when on song and has won on heavy ground over three miles so he ticks plenty of boxes.

As for the opposition, there are several other eight-year-olds in the field but Crievehill looked to be held by his mark last time, while Adrien Du Pont has looked a weak finisher and Kildisart seems to have lost his jumping confidence.

I am happy to take a chance that Talkischeap can get back on the up.

Is a mare that I like and, having won well enough for this column last time, I believe she is worth sticking with off just a 4lb higher mark.

She is only 1lb worse off with Verne Castle for beating him a length last time out and these two represent the in-form sprinters in this tight contest.

At least three of the runners have a preference for going from the front here, so hopefully the race should work out well for Restless Rose and she can defy a career-high mark.
