Dave Nevison likes one at a big price in the QTS Ayr Bronze Cup Handicap on Friday. It's one of six meetings for you to enjoy on Racing TV.

3.55 Ayr: Helvetian at a general 20-1

One of two runners in the race for Kevin Frost and this one looks like it may be a bit of a plot.

He has slipped below his last winning mark and been campaigned over 5f for recent runs. I believe it is significant that he is upped to 6f now off his reduced rating.

Richard Kingscote is a strong booking, too, and Helvetian certainly looked as though he was on the way back last time out when staying on nicely into fourth at Haydock.

There are few in this race that can be regarded as well-handicapped and, given Helvetian will be held up from the middle of the track, Kingscote should be able to pick which side he wants to challenge on. Hopefully, he will call it right and deliver him late to win.

4.25 Ayr: Elysian Flame at a general 3-1

The last time this horse was seen on the Flat he ran a blinder in a race full of improvers.

I believe the handicapper has had every opportunity to raise him much more than the 2lb he has put him up and, if he is fit for his first run, then I feel he could win this easily despite top weight.

Hamish won the race in question and is now a Group horse, while the third and fourth home are appreciably higher in the handicap.

He didn’t do at all badly during a spell over hurdles last winter and the market will guide us about his fitness.

5.25 Ayr: My Ukulele at a general 13-2

This horse was on a roll when winning a similar event at this meeting last year and has possibly run better than it might appear on all three of her recent starts.

She needs a truly-run race to be at her best and that should be the case here in a decent-sized field.

Last time, in particular, she got stuck when wanting to challenge and ended up running on well to be third. The horse in fourth won next time and she looks to have been kept by for this meeting since.

John Quinn is one of the group of northern trainers who gets plenty winners at this meeting and with track, trip and ground perfect there is every chance of another here.
