This is an absolutely cracking handicap chase and I am hoping Two For Gold, whose running style is made for Wetherby, can make all to win.
He is a previous course winner from a stable in terrific form this autumn and won on his reappearance last season.
He does stay further, but his reappearance win came over this trip last season, so I am hoping he retains the speed to win over the same distance and I certainly believe the punishing fences up the home straight at Wetherby will bring out the best in him.
Speed Company has dropped considerably in the weights in three runs this season and is now just 2lb above his last winning handicap mark.
He was running well last season off a rating of 89 and I believe the handicapper may have been slightly generous.
His latest run at Goodwood was certainly a creditable effort when finishing fourth in a 0-100 handicap, a position that would have been improved but for him being hampered.
Dropped down to 0-85 company here, and on soft ground, his chance is obvious.
This selection carries top weight and is very worthy of that burden after a really good run in a 20-runner handicap at York last time.
He is relatively lightly-raced and could still be improving plus he s fresher than his rivals here. He won on soft ground last season, so that is not an issue, and the form of the yard is certainly no problem having been solid all season.
James Doyle riding for the first time is the final icing on the cake in making him a bet.
